Remarkably, there have been 3 people who have finished climbing the Vermont 110 this year so far. Way to go!! Well-earned patches have been sent out to all 3 for their accomplishment which was years in the making.

For many years Tillotson (Just south of Haystack Mountain in Lowell, Vermont) has been shrouded in uncertainty as to whether it is in fact above 3000′ in elevation. Some maps had Tillotson at 2,999′ – just shy of being a 3K mountain.
Now with Lidar measuring technology more widely available, Tillotson has been able to be measured with Lidar, and Lidar places Tilloston solidly above the 3000′ mark.
It appears we can now confirm with greater certainty that Tillotson is above 3000′ in elevation, resolving longstanding questions about the height of this peak in northern Vermont.
On January 5th 2020 Spencer Crispe became the first known person to climb and ski down all 110 major mountains in Vermont. (above 3000′). It took him 4 winters to accomplish and he used the following criteria: Climbing to the accepted summit of all 110, during Calendar winter, skiing down to a road or trailhead only removing skis rarely to downclimb because of unskiable terrain like ice cliffs, impenetrable thick growth or deep brook gullies. Some Vermont mountains afforded amazing back country turns and enormous deep powder. Other mountains were a hellish obstacle course, turning his skis into scrap metal and tearing his clothes into a shag rug.
